Sizing
How do I measure a child's head?
Run a soft tape around the head just above the eyebrows and around the widest point at the back. Keep it level and snug, not tight. Enter that number in Grow Fit and it returns one recommended size, with an estimated range for how long it is likely to fit.
Should I go up a size so it lasts longer?
No. A hat that is too big slides down until the brim reaches the brow, the child pushes it back, and after a few rounds it comes off and stays off. We recommend at most one step up, and only when the head is already near the top of the current range. If you want a longer run from one hat, the Junior Adjustable opens across 6 cm from an internal band instead.
How long will a hat actually fit?
Grow Fit gives a range in months rather than a single number, because head growth slows sharply after the first year and then varies a lot between children. It is an estimate based on typical growth, and we say so on screen rather than in a footnote.
Do children's and adult hats really match?
Where a child hat lists a matching adult item, both are cut from the same pattern and the same cloth in the same colourway. The shapes are identical; only the head size and the crown depth change. The family sets pair them for less than buying the two separately.
Safety and claims
Do your hats do anything about the sun?
We make no claim regarding solar or ultraviolet radiation, and you will not find one anywhere on this site. A garment that makes one becomes personal protective equipment under European law, with conformity assessment, a declaration of conformity and CE marking behind it. We have not done that work, so we do not make the claim. What we do publish is the brim width in centimetres for every hat. More on the child safety page.
Are there any cords or ties on the hats?
No hat in the range carries a cord or drawstring anywhere — not at the neck, not around the crown, not through the brim. Where there is a chin fastener it is a two-part buckle that separates when pulled, and the approximate release force is stated in newtons on the product page.
Do any hats have buttons, beads or pom-poms?
None. No line carries detachable decorative parts, including the older lines where a tested decoration would be permitted. That is also why no product page shows an age warning: nothing in the catalogue triggers one.
Do you print characters or logos on children's hats?
Never. No cartoon characters, film or television properties, club marks or celebrity likenesses. Children's clothing is where trade mark infringement concentrates, so every pattern we use is our own and most of the range is plain.
Orders, payment and delivery
What currency are prices in, and are taxes included?
All prices are in US dollars. For deliveries within Spain, IVA at 21% is included in the amount shown before you confirm. For deliveries elsewhere, any import duty or local tax is shown at checkout before you confirm, so the amount you see is the amount you pay. Nothing is added afterwards.
How is my card handled?
Card details are entered on the secure page of the payment provider configured for this store. They are never entered on our pages and never reach our servers. We take your delivery details before the payment step so that an interrupted payment does not lose your order.
Is there a subscription or a membership?
No. Every purchase is a one-off. There are no recurring charges, no membership tiers, no credits and no stored balances, so there is nothing to cancel beyond an individual order.
How long does delivery take, and what if it is late?
Orders are dispatched within two business days. Transit is typically one to three days in Spain and five to fifteen days elsewhere. The contractual maximum is 30 days from the conclusion of the contract; beyond that you can set an additional period and then terminate and be refunded. Zones and costs are on the shipping page.
Returns, refunds and guarantee
Can I return a hat if it does not fit?
Yes. You have 14 days from delivery to withdraw without giving a reason. Tell us, send it back within 14 days of telling us, and we refund within 14 days of your notice. You pay the return postage and there is no restocking fee. Trying a hat on to check the fit never reduces your refund. Step-by-step process on the returns page.
What if I only want to return one hat from a set?
You can. We refund the individual catalogue price of the returned hat less its proportional share of the set discount, so the hats you keep stay priced correctly. There is a worked example with numbers in the conditions of sale, and the same calculation is printed on your refund note.
How long is the guarantee?
Three years from delivery, under Spanish law — the longest legal guarantee in the European Union. For the first two years a fault is presumed to have existed at delivery unless we prove otherwise. We also keep spare chin fasteners and inner bands for ten years from discontinuation. Full detail on the guarantee page.
A charge on my statement looks wrong. What should I do?
Write to support@costaysoler.shop with your order reference before raising it with your bank. Most disputed charges are duplicate authorisations that drop off by themselves, or refunds already in flight, and can be settled in one reply. How we handle formal disputes is described on the shipping and returns page.
Privacy and children
What do you do with my child's age and head measurement?
Grow Fit runs entirely in your browser, so nothing is sent to us unless you choose to include it in an enquiry. If it does reach us it is used only to recommend a size, never to build a profile or target advertising, kept for no more than 12 months, and deleted sooner if you ask. The full text is in the children's data section of the privacy policy.
Will you email me when my child needs a bigger size?
No. We do not run any marketing triggered by a child's age, growth or birthday, and we never will. Every email we send is the same for every subscriber, and you can stop them in one click.
Who can place an order?
Anyone aged 18 or over. Hats for children are bought by a parent or guardian on the child's behalf. We do not knowingly accept personal data from anyone under 13, and where someone between 13 and 17 contacts us we act only with a parent or guardian involved.
